Feld Hell european net by PC1K

New Feld Hell Net Launched to Enhance Accessibility for European Ham Operators

A new Feld Hell net has been introduced to address the accessibility challenges faced by many European ham radio operators. Despite the existence of several Hell Schreiber nets, many are out of reach for various reasons, prompting the creation of this new net.

Existing Hell Schreiber nets, particularly those based in the USA, often pose challenges for European operators due to HF conditions and compromised antenna setups. Additionally, many European nets operate on the 80m band, which excludes Novice licensed hams from participating.

The new net operates every Saturday at 10:00 AM Zulu Time, encouraging ham operators to start making QSOs. Initially, operations will be conducted using the FSK Hell-105 mode. Operators should set their transceivers to the specified frequencies and adjust the waterfall to +1500Hz. If the designated frequency is occupied, participants are advised to move to a free portion of the spectrum. Frequencies for the net are as follows:

Odd Weeks: 10.144 MHz USB (30m)
Even Weeks: 14.063 MHz USB (20m)

Coordination and Social Interaction

In contrast to the structured US nets, this new net is designed to be less formal. There are no check-ins or coordinating stations. Instead, coordination is facilitated through Hamspots. Operators not on Hamspots can use a live viewer to find the station frequency. A message will be posted on Hamspots.net around the net’s start time, indicating the frequency of the day. If the message is not visible, participants are encouraged to post their own.

QSOs are kept short due to limited equipment setup, but operators with better setups or favorable conditions are encouraged to socialize and engage in longer conversations. However, basic QSOs are also welcome.

Participants are encouraged to log their QSOs on platforms such as QRZ.com and LoTW. For logging purposes, the mode is FSKH105, and SWL reports are welcome. QSO screenshots from the net can be viewed in the Hell QSO Gallery on http://feldhell.net , For more information on other ham radio activities, visit pc1k.nl.

This new Feld Hell net aims to provide a more accessible and inclusive platform for European ham operators, fostering greater community engagement and participation.
