C21MM – Nauru DXpedition

A seasoned team of radio amateurs, renowned for their previous DXpeditions including T2C in 2023 and P29RO in 2022, has announced their upcoming venture. This October, they will head to the Pacific island of Nauru, where they plan to operate under the call sign C21MM. The operation will feature five stations running continuously on bands from 160 to 6 meters, utilizing modes such as CW, SSB, FT8, and RTTY.

The team, which has extensive experience with expeditions to Pacific islands, encountered several challenges in preparing for Nauru. Securing the necessary permissions and identifying appropriate sites for the antennas proved to be a considerable challenge, particularly for a larger group. They expressed gratitude towards Phill, C21TS, for his significant support on the island.

All logistical arrangements, including flights, accommodations, and a dedicated radio shack room, have been confirmed. These were crucial for obtaining the necessary visa to enter Nauru. Additionally, the team has acquired the required radio license, with the specific call sign to be announced in due course. The expedition comes at a considerable expense, with each member contributing several thousand Euros.

Due to the logistical complexities, the team will deploy in two phases. The first group of six members is scheduled to arrive on October 11, 2024, bringing along two stations, including the LZ wire beam and the LBS-pentaplexer, focusing initially on high-band operations. The remainder of the team will join them on October 14 for an additional 12 days, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the bands and modes.
